Things We Never Got Over

One of the best post-story epilogues I’ve read. My favorite part of this book was the community of characters surrounding this love story. They show up for one another, give each other grief, and were a fun random assortment of personalities that just worked - kind of like from Gilmore Girl’s Star’s Hallow. 🥰 With that said, I need to have words with my girlfriends who see themselves in the main character - perfectionists & people pleasers. Your healing is not to find a man like this book boyfriend. Not having boundaries is not solved by finding a strong willed man who tells you what to do, because he “knows better” or thinks he has your best interests at heart. That is just outsourcing the boundaries that you need to set yourself. This book also had some grey lines with consent 😅. Like, Knox restraining Naomi, physically getting in her space, hoisting her over his shoulder with her ass hanging out of her skirt at her workplace in front of clientele and her PARENTS after she told him she didn’t want to talk to talk to him… Authors can we please not? These scenes did not have the funny/cute/endearing punch I assume they were intended to have. It’s ironic because so much was made of Knox being infuriated when others put their hands on Naomi- like, look in the mirror? There were also sex scenes where, dude, if I’m not sure she’s consenting and I’m reading it from her internal POV, then this man DEFINITELY doesn’t know if she’s consenting… Again, let’s be better, authors. Overall, I appreciated where the plot landed & my time spent with this book.
